Kyle Mueller, MD, FACS
PRACTICE:
Dr. Mueller is a board certified general surgeon, a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Mueller has been practicing general surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and robotic assisted surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago since 2004 and has performed more than 10,000 surgeries. Dr. Mueller also serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and has been awarded numerous teaching awards. Due to his high volume and patient demand, Dr. Mueller has two full days each week dedicated to robotic assisted surgery.
EDUCATION:
Dr. Mueller received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in 1999 and completed his surgical training at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 2004.
MISSION:
Dr. Mueller strives to provide each patient with compassionate surgical care with minimal pain, fast recoveries, and outstanding outcomes. He believes in developing strong patient/physician interactions based on mutual trust and straightforward communication. Dr. Mueller stresses the importance of developing an individualized treatment and surgical plan for each patient by first listening to his patients then providing a detailed explanation of the diagnosis, the proposed surgery, and the recovery process. He makes sure to thoroughly answer all of his patients' questions before they leave the office, and he provides each patient with multiple contact numbers to reach him directly with any questions or concerns before and after surgery.

Initial Consultation with Dr. Mueller
Before Your Initial Consultation
Prior to your initial consultation, Dr. Mueller will review all of your medical records in order to streamline your visit. If your primary care physician is in the Northwestern Medicine Network, or if you have been a patient at any Northwestern Medicine Network Hospital, Dr. Mueller will have access to your medical history and any diagnostic studies that have been performed. If you have not been a patient in a Northwestern Medicine Hospital, then you will receive a medical history form to be filled out prior to your consultation. If you have any medical records or diagnostic studies from another hospital that are pertinent to your visit, please contact Dr. Mueller's nurse, Angie Weldon, at (312) 695-8918 for assistance in transferring these records prior to your initial consultation.

During Your Initial Consultation
Dr. Mueller will meet with you to listen to your description of the pertinent issues and problems, and he will then perform a focused physical examination to further evaluate any surgical conditions. Then, he will review with you all of your pertinent lab results and imaging studies. If any labs, imaging studies, or specialist referrals are required, these will be ordered. Dr. Mueller will then discuss your diagnosis and work with you to develop a treatment plan. If Dr. Mueller recommends a surgical procedure, then he will provide you a thorough explanation regarding the details of the surgery, expected recovery, and any risks. Most importantly, at the conclusion of your visit, Dr. Mueller will answer all of your questions and provide you with contact numbers to reach him with future questions.

After Your Consultation
If Dr. Mueller recommends surgery during your consultation and you wish to proceed with surgery, you will meet with his nurse, Angie, to schedule a future date for surgery. Angie will provide you with detailed instructions. If you are not ready to schedule surgery at that time, you will be provided a contact number to reach Angie to schedule surgery in the future.
